A selection from the books that were unsold at the Flower Show book stall have been placed at the back of the church.

Please help yourself to the books and kindly put a donation in the box in the wall to the left of the door on your way out.

The books will be changed periodically.  Please feel free to add others that you may have finished with.

Thank you

South Newington Flower and Produce Show – Thank You

Poster for Flower and Produce Show

On behalf of the Flower Show Committee I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who worked hard to put on the Show this weekend.

There would be no show without Advertisers, Sign-writers, Exhibitors, Bakers, Judges’ Hosts, Stallholders, Announcers, Auctioneers, Attendees, those who donated items and those who helped with the set up or take down. Thank you also to those who shared their Art or their Schooldays!

I do hope that you had an enjoyable day at the show.

I’d also like to sincerely thank the members of the Committee for their help and support we prepared and planned the show.

The Committee meet soon to wrap up the 2017  show.  I would be pleased to hear any suggestions which we can discuss for 2018.

With many thanks

Paula Staples

At the South Newington Parish Council meeting held on 24th Jan 2017, Cllr Brown informed the meeting via his emailed report there was to be an initial meeting of the A361 White fence with sign reading Working Group and at some stage they will be seeking the input of the South Newington residents and Parish Council.

An article has been published in the Bloxham Broadsheet on this matter, which may be of interest to many villagers.

What Are South Newington Occasional Singers Getting Up To?

Photograph of Banbury Occasional Singers, standing together in a church

The South Newington Singers next  big event is singing in the Chipping Norton Music Festival (CNMF) on Saturday March 4th at 3.15. pm

The CNMF is an amazing event which has been happening for the past 104 years, would you believe!  Over a thousand people, all from the local area will be taking part, of which we are a small part… There are over a hundred different categories of performance – all types of music and different instruments plus poetry and drama. All the performances are judged by professional adjudicators so we are being very brave in putting ourselves forward!

Members of the public are welcome to come and watch any performance (£1.50 for an audience day ticket) and there are also three special events happening too (even more special than the South Newington Singers, can you believe that?!)

– Craig Ogden’s giving a guitar recital on Sunday March 12th
– Dave Townsend’s leading a Folk Evening on Monday March 13th
– Anthony Williams will be giving piano masterclasses on Thursday 16th March.

All events are in the Chipping Norton Town Hall, programmes and tickets are on sale in the Jaffe & Neale bookshop in Chippy or the website www.cnmf.org.uk
