When: Sat 5th November start 6pm

Where: Barbours Fields off Sands Lane

The format of this bonfire night is based on Balscote village’s event, where each household contributes a big firework or two, which is then combined and managed in one safe display for all the village to enjoy. James Durley and Miles Colegrave have kindly offered to be in charge of the display.

Please bring any fireworks to them by Tuesday 1st November at the latest. This is to allow them time to arrange the display safely.  If you prefer to give a contribution, they will buy the firework selection for you.  Google lists several places nearby where you can buy good displays, such as Fireworks Crazy in Bicester.

Address for firework drop off: Miles Colegrave no 1 Barford Road or James Durley no 4 Barford Road.

Please add any DRY WOOD only (no wet leaves) to the bonfire site which you will see in the field just off the footpath marked with a flag from October 29th (no sooner.)

The fields are available by kind permission of Julian Barbour and Carmen Guard. Please do not drop litter or metal items such as sparklers in the field to protect nature. The firework and bonfire display is at your own risk.

Queens Platinum Jubilee Art Exhibition – South Newington Church Thursday 2nd June 2022

Do go and visit the church this week for the Platinum Jubilee art exhibition, some of the art is already in situ and more is to come.
Fabulous paintings, models, drawings, letters to the queen and a general showcase of our talented village from across the age range.
Thank you to all those who have shared their work and plenty of space for more if anyone would like to drop off their painting. Easels are at the back of the church and labels are on the table.
Obviously all artwork is left at owners risk and the church is uninsured for this exhibition.
We look forward to seeing you for the open gardens on Friday and the street events on Saturday. The timings for Saturday are on the notice board and more info to follow shortly.
If you have any queries do email Roz [email protected]
